Partnership Program

Australia is home to a number of world-class research groups engaged in developing new technologies in the fields of software engineering, artificial intelligence, networking and the social sciences. Already these groups have secured international recognition of their talents and achievements.

More than twenty corporations and universities across Australia provide the Smart Internet CRC with the research capacity to develop practical Internet solutions to address real needs.

All our industry partners are committed to growing an innovative Australian IT sector and include major players Telstra, Westpac, Esperon, Tenix and Infosys, collaborating alongside our SME Consortium Members, DPM Consulting, The Distillery, Epicorp and Wizard Information Services, Research Affiliates Agent Oriented Software and Pacific Knowledge Systems and the NSW Department of State & Regional Development.

Academic partners include the Australian Graduate School of Management, Griffith University, RMIT, Swinburne University, the University of Melbourne, the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney, the University of Tasmania and the University of Wollongong.

Established in June 2001 Smart Internet and its participants have access to $100 million over 7 years, $22million of which comes from the Commonwealth Government. There are a number of ways organisations can engage with the CRC each with varying levels of contributions.

  • Partners of the CRC contribute upwards of $100k in cash and in kind and are directly involved driving the focus and investment in R&D.
  • Research Affiliates generally contribute in kind only, usually in the form of software platforms on which R&D projects might be based.
  • Our SME Alliance program enables a cluster of smaller companies to join as a Partner for $75k in cash and in kind and membership is usually driven by the identification of a project, up front, that looks to deliver shorter term commercial gains.
