Commercialisation Opportunities
The CRC has implemented a strategy to maximise the chances of successful applications of research outcomes. The focus is to apply the CRC’s IP in combination with our participants IP and market domain knowledge within Industry/Domain Projects. These Domain Projects typically have a number of contributing Participants, from technology platform providers, to IT integrators and end user organisations.
This strategy has strong support from CRC Participants.
Smart Internet is also refining its end-to-end process from activity inception through to IP Management & Commercialisation, with the objective of implementing a stage-gate process driven through a new web portal.
enikos Pty Ltd, Smart Internet’s first spin-off company, has secured its first contract work, and obtained pre-seed funding. enikos is independently staffed, managed, and funded and working on a number of development opportunities.
Smart Internet’s patented Immersive Audio technology was significantly advanced during the year into a number of prototype applications. Immersive Audio is currently being managed as a virtual business, with a business consultant and three engineers developing applications and positioning the technology and business directions to the greatest advantage.
The CRC is targeting the advancement of four commercial opportunities during the 2005-06. Smart internet is also planning significant development of both the enikos and the Immersive Audio businesses during the year, and targeting additional VC funding.
